Our guest is Rakesh Kondle, Head of IT and Administration at Next Education, and he will talk about their journey and also how Next Education started to work with Ant Media.

Next Education is a cloud-based educational management solutions provider for schools. It is an Edtech Company providing India’s leading digital classroom solution. NextEducation has been helping many educational institutions to teach services in a secure manner since 2007. Their products and solutions have touched the lives of 10% of India’s private-school-going children.

What was the biggest challenge the Education market faced during Covid?

With the outbreak of covid19, many education institutes were put to a halt and the education sector was no exception. Many institutes were struggling to set up a robust, secure online teaching platform to facilitate the ease of teaching. A limited number of resources were present such as zoom, Microsoft teams & google meet but they all have restricted features on the security front. To overcome this pain point we decided to build a live online teaching software.

What possible solutions did you consider, and why did you choose Ant Media Server?

Firstly we started with one of your well-known competitors in the OVP (Online Video Platform) domain. It seems like a good solution for us but It has shortcomings specifically in the area of scaling, extra features, customization potential and costs. It was very expensive. Its pricing model charges per stream per minute. This means that as our application becomes more successful, thus gaining more users and consuming more streams, we are paying more and more for each additional user.

Then we tried another of your well-known competitors in the Live Streaming Engine Software domain. It has been slow in effectively implementing WebRTC as a highly functional, low latency replacement for browser-based streaming. The lack of full WebRTC integration and reliance on CDN-based video delivery results in them currently suffering from high latency of around 2 seconds at the very lowest.

Finally, we’ve started to use Ant Media Server

How have you benefited from using Ant Media Server?

Ant Media Server provides reliable WebRTC and HLS streams. We could easily integrate it into our API workflow. Thanks to Ant Media Server’s adaptive bitrate feature, we can provide uninterrupted education. When the viewer connection is good, the viewer gets a high-quality, high-bitrate stream, but if the connection speed is low, the server sends a low-bitrate stream to ensure a continuous media stream. Streams can auto-scale as well in the cluster in Ant Media Server. The origin server can stream to edge servers in the cluster and edge servers can stream to clients.

The Technology of the New World

Ant Media Server is constantly evolving as the broadcast industry progresses. This is what makes Ant Media Server a good partner for Next Education, which transforms education.
